With Your New Bonsai Plant | Bonsai Plant Care
Bonsai trees are a natural beauty and they are very pleasing for everyone to look at. The miniature bonsai trees are easy to maintain once you have gotten them properly planted.
Start with a very young tree or shrub and a suitable pot. You can even get a young tree or shrub out of the woods. The magic of bonsai is the manipulation of the roots. Keep the roots pruned to keep the tree dwarfed. Put wire mesh over the drainage holes of the pot to keep the soil from washing. The roots are very important when it comes to maintaining a bonsai tree the soil need to be protected and kept in place.
Before you put your plant in a pot, use a metal hook to loosen the roots and the dirt around them. When you loosen the roots and the dirt around the roots, you encourage new growth for you plant.
Cut away any roots that are sticking out, this will help to keep the actual tree dwarfed. The trimmed roots will keep your plant healthy and it encourages proper growth.
When you remove too-rapid or unwanted growth from your tree do not use scissors on the leaves. Scissors causes the leaves to turn brown, which is quite unattractive. It is best to remove any unwanted growth with your hands.
To help promote root growth, cut a few times into the roots. Cut a few wedges in the root ball to encourage root growth.
To keep you tree from spilling over and to keep pests away, put a mesh of wire over the container and secure it in place so that it cannot move.
Keep in mind that you have to care for it in the meantime and put it in a convenient place.
