How to Take Care of a Piano
To keep your piano in top form you should get it tuned at least twice each year. If it is new, you should get it tuned
four times each year at the beginning. To keep it newer longer or to keep an old piano working for many more years,
here are some tips.
- Keep your piano in a cool dry room away from direct sunlight. The sunlight will cause your wood to dry out and it can
cause warping and buckling among other damaging effects.
- Keep your piano away from all heat and cooling sources – central heat and air vents, radiators, air conditioners,
etc.
- To make sure all of the sound gets out place the piano at least five inches from the wall.
- Get a professional piano restoration at least every two to three years to keep it playing well.
- Do not use sprays to clean the inside of your piano. Refer back to the tip above.
Piano care is essential if you want your piano to last a lifetime.
