The average person needs about 2,300 milligrams -- which
is about one teaspoon -- of sodium per day. Most people on a daily basis consume at least twice that amount. Or more. The
most well-known culprits are soups, crackers, frozen dinners, fast food and almost any processed prepared food.
Too much salt does a number of bad things to your body.
It causes high blood pressure in some people
The more salt you consume the more you are at risk for bone
loss
Too much salt can cause some people to look ‘swollen’
due to water retention
You can keep a healthy check on your salt intake by:
Reading labels of the food that you buy to look for sodium
content and other harmful ingredients.
Eating foods that are in their natural state when you by them.
Cutting back - or eliminating - the consumption of processed
foods and fast food.
