These Job Hunting Expenses May Be Deductible
- Newspapers and other publications that you buy to search the want
ads are deductible. These publications must be used in your search for a job.
- Your out-of-town travel expenses, such as your transportation costs,
your lodging, a large portion of your meals and entertainment can also be deducted if you are looking for a job during your
trip.
- The costs of putting your portfolio together to show to prospective
employers, including, but not limited to, printing costs, paper, supplies, money paid to typists or resume writers and the
actual portfolio.
- The fees that you pay to employment agencies to find a job for you
are tax deductible. If you hire a consultant to help you in your search, these services also tax deductible.
- If you have to make long distance telephone calls during your job
search, those calls can be tax deductible.
- The costs of getting your résumé together.
The cost of the letters that you send to prospective employers, printing cost, stamps and envelops.
- If you hire a taxi or buy a bus pass to get to your job interviews.
- some clothing, shoes and other apparel need for your search.
These are tax-deductible now, but that doesn't mean they will always
